Doctor’s Bio

Dr. Alaa Mofti is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and a Glaucoma, Cataract, and Advanced Anterior Segment surgeon with more than 14 years of experience in Ophthalmology. Dr. Mofti obtained his Ophthalmology board from the joint ophthalmology residency program in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He completed his first Glaucoma fellowship at King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital (KKESH), in affiliation with Wilmer Eye Institute - John’s Hopkins University, with Dr. Randy Craven. He went abroad to complete a Glaucoma fellowship with Dr. Hady Saheb at McGill University, Canada. Then, he became the first Saudi fellow to train in the Glaucoma and Advanced Anterior Segment Surgery fellowship program at the University of Toronto under the mentorship of world-renowned surgeon Dr. Ike Ahmed. Dr. Mofti’s expertise includes novel Micro-invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) techniques, Advanced/complex Cataract surgery, Complex Intra-ocular Lens surgeries, Iris Reconstruction Surgeries, and Refractive Surgery. He was the first surgeon to implant the Preserflo Microshunt in the Kingdom, as well as the first cases of iStent Inject W and XEN gel implants in the Western Region. Dr. Mofti Joined Magrabi Eye Hospitals and Centers Group in 2021. His core strengths are his work ethic, attention to detail, and demand for perfection when it comes to his patients' care.
